Jerome is one of North America's most accomplished permaculture designers and he will teach us how to create forest gardens in both greenhouses and outdoors that can transform both our homes and our lives. He has the amazing ability to create greenhouses on a frugal budget and also the vision to see what is possible on a largerscale. He is both practical about growing and has decades of experience growing vegetables and fruits at altitude.
He will provide in-depth information on construction of high altitude greenhouses, soil building techniques, disease and pest control, the secrets of companion planting and the use of microclimates within the greenhouse and around it. We will use the Elkstone Farm greenhouse which utilizes a revolutionary energy-cycling technology known as a “climate battery” which allows use us to effectively utilize both passive and active solar heat storage to create tropical greenhouse conditions even high up in the Colorado mountains.
This is a chance to learn from senior permaculture teachers on a well established permaculture site. You’ll come away with a larger range of possibilities of what is possible to grow in Colorado and skills to move your life and your land into a more regenerative future! Join us in growing a more sustainable food culture for the Yampa Valley!
As an added bonus, our very own Chef Russell Goodman will prepare a sumptuous farm-to-table lunch for us so that we are well nourished as we learn!
