This is the first of our more conversational family-style dinners at the farm. We are excited to present an evening that nourishes us with good food from the farm while engaging in a deeper community experience. Our farm manager, Marco Lam, will be facilitating the discussion.
Robin Kimmerer's new book, The Serviceberry, is a bold and inspiring vision for how to orient our lives around gratitude, reciprocity, and community, based on the lessons of the natural world. It's about indigenous wisdom, how we want to live, what we value, how we want to be in relation, and whether we can imagine and cultivate a system that nurtures mutual well-being and flourishing.
The book is an easy, short read and the 128 pages can easily be read in the evening. Please read the book beforehand and come prepared to be in dialogue about the book with your neighbors. Several of us on the farm are reading the book and attending.
Chef Russell will make a family-style dinner which will be followed by a serviceberry dessert!
