Micheal will spend a day introducing you to growing Oyster Mushrooms on a small scale with simple processes you can do at home, and you’ll go home with your first little “garden” of mushrooms. In the morning we will start by introducing you to the wonderful world of fungi, discuss growing mediums well suited for Oyster varieties and the conditions that help them to thrive to abundant fruiting. We will discuss where we can find all the commonly available resources. I will have step by step instructions for you on preparing the growing medium and how to create the favorable conditions for fruiting as the mycelium grows. This class was really popular last year and it was wonderful hearing about the successes of the students growing mushrooms!
After a wonderful farm-to-table lunch at the farm we will spend a couple hours having fun building our own mushroom grow bags with materials I will have ready to assemble. Folks will go home with some of their own innoculated mushroom bags.
