Friday, September 6th
from 11am – 12pm | $40
Growing in the High Rockies is no easy task. Our growing season is short, but when the vegetables go off, they really go crazy! How did the homesteaders survive the winter? How were they able to preserve all of their summer bounty? Fermentation(among other things)! In this 1 hour demonstration, our Elkstone chefs will discuss the process of fermentation and how to easily succeed with it at home. Together, we will build a better understanding of these living foods with lots of tasting in the process! We will show you how to make an easy sauerkraut as well as simple fermented pickles. To finish, we will snack on a light spread of other fermented foods to show you just how tasty this method can be! This class is part of Lost Arts Revival. See below for details.
Lost Art Revival celebrates the traditional arts of the Yampa Valley and the western heritage that sets this mountain town apart from others in the state. Classes, tours, and lectures are highlighted with September as Western Heritage Month. Visit https://www.steamboatcreates.org/western-heritage-month/ for more information or call Steamboat Creates at 970-879-9008.
Cancellations will be accepted up to four days before the class, i.e., by the end of the day on Saturday. If you are unable to attend after the cancellation deadline, you are free to transfer your reservation to a friend.
