Come join us for an exciting and creative exploration of the food of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE. The artifacts unearthed during the excavation of Pompeii point to a robust food culture and even the existence of an early version of food trucks! In this class we will explore some of the foods available to the citizens of Pompeii such as grains, fruits, nuts, olives, lentils, local fish and chicken eggs. We will incorporate classical techniques and local food whenever possible.
